Suggested Interview Questions

Note: Psychotherapy is a term that encompasses therapy/counseling. All therapists may be licensed and may do psychotherapy. Only psychiatrists may prescribe medications. Psychologists do psychological evaluations and custody evaluations. Most testing is done by a psychologist or a specialist in testing.

  • What areas do you focus on within your practice and for how long has your practice been so focused?

  • What populations do you counsel? Children, Teens, Adults, Elderly?

  • Do you work with Individuals, Families, Couples, Groups?

  • Are you willing to accompany client to court? As an Expert or Other?
    Under what circumstances? Have you been to court?

  • How long have you practiced family therapy?

  • Do you work with co-parenting?

  • Do you have an understanding of emotional, physical, upscale and sexual
    abuse of children and adults?
